At The Skin Center Cosmetic Surgery Center in Pittsburgh, PA, Blepharoplasty surgery is one of their most popular procedures.
My surgeon told me lower eyelid surgery is relatively simple to perform, with a relatively simple recovery when post-op instructions are followed (I can attest to that!) and that his patients are always so thrilled with the results…and now I know why. It’s scarless—since the tiny incision is INSIDE the lower eyelid, where it’s invisible. When I look at my blepharoplasty before and after photos, I just have to ask myself why I waited until I did to have the surgery! I would have done it years ago if I knew it would be this easy.
Just a few days after the surgery, my nurse checked in on my recovery progress. Having diligently followed the post-op instructions, I felt confident about the healing process.
Here’s a breakdown of my post-op routine after my Blepharoplasty procedure:
Blood Pressure Check: Monitoring blood pressure at home for the first few days ensures everything remains normal.
Cleansing/Moisturizing: I religiously followed the cleansing and moisturizing regimen six times a day. It was surprisingly soothing, and my skin absorbed the products quickly.
Medication: After a few days, I was relieved to stop the anti-inflammatory medications and oral antibiotics due to mild side effects. Managing with extra-strength Tylenol and eye drops was easy.
Diet: I stuck to a protein-rich diet and stayed hydrated with plenty of water.
Exercise: Two weeks of rest was a small price to pay for beautiful eyes!
Sleeping: Sleeping upright and on my back was challenging but necessary for proper healing. Moving to the couch for the last “upright” night was a game-changer.
Eye Sight: Patience was crucial as my eyesight gradually returned to normal over the first week.
Peeling: Adding a chemical peel to the procedure meant dealing with some peeling. By Day 5, the process had begun, revealing fresh, rejuvenated skin.
